Brant & Cochran Voyageur

The folks at brant & Cochran started canoeing in the 1970's in Minnesota's Boundary Waters Canoe Area with their Dad who always carried his trusty Norlund Hudson Bay Axe on those trips.

These canoeing memories inspired production of The Voyageur! Inspired by the Hudson Bay style axe made by Bangor's Snow & Nealley before WWII, the Voyageur has a 2 lb. U.S. 1045 carbon steel head hung on a 24" Amish-turned hickory handle secured by a black walnut wedge.

Adding to the historical accuracy of the axe pattern, they emboss the year of manufacture and maker's initials on the head --- just like Oakland, Maine's Emerson & Stevens did in the early 1900's.

The axe comes wicked sharp and tempered to a Rockwell hardness of 56-58 so she'll keep an edge after hours of use.
